Heaviest rain in years soaks parts of WA
Tom Saunders

Light showers persisted across much of western and southern WA on Saturday, maintaining the wet finish to what has still been a relatively dry month for the state.
Storms on Friday brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the west coast and Great Southern, including 32mm at Kalbarri, their best rain in three years. Other notable falls included 38mm at Colorado and 29mm at Newdegate, both two year highs.
Perth picked up 17mm which lifted their monthly total to just a few mm below average, but much of WA from the inland Gascoyne to the south coast has received only about 20% of their average.
The showers will contract to the south coast on Sunday behind a cold front leaving most of WA dry until the next bout of rain arrives from the west towards the end of next week.
