Frost will be on leave for a week

Brett Dutschke
Frost is about to have a week's break as calm, clear weather turns windy, cloudy and wet. Many residents in southern Australia will welcome the break from the brisk mornings and also the prospect of some widespread rain. Overnight temperatures in some parts will trend from about five below average to about five above by the end of the week. This will reduce the need for thick blankets at night and extra layers when heading to work. Daytime temperatures will also become reasonably pleasant as most southern centres warm well beyond the mid teens, something that hasn't happened in about two months. This warming trend will come to an end over the weekend in the wake of a strong cold front. The first few days of next week will be much like what has been experienced early this month and in June - cold. Frost will return a day-or-two after the cold front has gone through, that is early-to-mid-next week.
