Foggy week in Victoria

Foggy week in Victoria
After collecting showers due to an upper level cold pool and trough, which is now generating heavy showers over NSW, Victoria had widespread fog this morning. In the wake of the showery days, a strong ridge of high pressure has taken over quickly, bringing clear skies and light winds to the nation's southeast. The combination of remnant moisture and a calm night made for the perfect conditions for fog formation. This morning Wonthaggi saw thick fog with visibility below 50 metres and still 500 metres at 9am. Avalon airport also saw fog lingering through this morning with visibility restricted to 100 metres at 5am. This high pressure ridge will remain in place over the state through much of this week, leading to a few more foggy mornings ahead. Tomorrow morning especially is forecast to be colder than this morning for many location around Victoria and since winds will be remaining light with elevated moisture levels, fog is expected to be more widespread than today. Daytime temperature will be warming throughout the week under the sunny skies. Statewide temperature will range from around three to six degrees above average each day before the next front arrives early next week.
