All of Australia's capital cities are looking dry at midnight on New Years Eve according to weatherzone's forecast tools. These tools suggest there is less than a 25 percent chance of rain in any capital at midnight. Darwin has the highest chance, about a 20 percent. Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra each share about a five percent chance of a shower. Other likely outcomes are Darwin being the warmest, Brisbane the cloudiest, Melbourne and Perth the clearest, Melbourne the calmest and Hobart the windiest. Australia is looking largely dry, just an area of heavy rain in the desert and the odd shower along the eastern seaboard, northern tropics and in western Tasmania. The country's wettest area should be just southeast of Warburton, in the Great Victoria Desert, due to the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Hilda. It comes as no surprise this should be the cloudiest area. The country's hot spot should be in the Windorah area, in northwest Queensland, where it will be about 34 degrees.
