Dry November in south-west Victoria

Tuesday December 2, 2008 - 13:25 EDT

South-west Victoria received below average rainfall in November, after two of the driest months on record.

Figures from the Bureau of Meteorology show the region received less than 70 per cent of its average November rainfall.

But meteorologist Dr Harvey Stern says October and September were worse, with both recording lower than average rain totals.

Dr Stern says although the region experienced a dry spring, it could have been worse.

"It was really only the November rain that saved the day because prior to that up to the end of October those two months, September October, were one of the driest on record," he said.

The bureau is predicting average or above average rainfall over summer.
