A cold front will cross Tasmania on Saturday, leaving a brisk southwesterly airflow and snow down to low levels in some parts on Sunday. Northwesterly winds ahead of the front are bringing a relatively warm Saturday to many areas of the Apple Isle, with most places from Launceston to Hobart and east to Swansea around 2-4 degrees above average. It's a bit cooler along the west coast as the winds are onshore. Sunday, however, will be much cooler as the northwesterlies tend southwesterly in the wake of the cold front. Launceston, Queenstown and Hobart are all likely to be around 3-4 degrees colder on Sunday, whilst Swansea looks to max out at 12 degrees on Sunday, around eight degrees colder than Saturday. As the front sweeps across the state on Saturday, snow will start falling over higher elevations in the south. By Sunday morning, snow could fall to around 600m, with most of the snow staying confined to the south. Minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to remain lower than average for most places in Tasmania until around Wednesday when the winds look to shift back to the north.
