Cold front clips Western Australia
Josh Fisher

A cold front is bringing rain and showers to southwestern parts of Western Australia before it heads east to bring another cold blast to the southeast.
Some of the rain over the southwest has been heavy at times with as much as 6mm in just 10 minutes falling in Margaret River. Mandurah also saw a downpour that brought 5mm in 10 minutes.
Most areas over western parts of Western Australia have seen less than 40% of their average July rainfall and now pushing past the middle of the month any rain is welcome.
Cape Leeuwin saw the most rain in the state during the last 24 hours. After receiving 32mm the monthly total is sitting at 90mm, which is less than half of the July average.
The front is now going to skirt along the country's south coast over the next few days, bringing a showery change.
By Sunday the front will reach the southeast, allowing areas of rain to develop, with late snow showers over the alps.
The front will surge north on Monday, allowing cold winds to push through New South Wales into southern Queensland. This will also allow snow to continue over the alps, with a further 10 to 20cm possible before conditions clear on Wednesday.
