Frost took hold of Queensland this morning with many locations recording their coldest morning in decades. Brisbane plummeted to 2.6 degrees this morning, the coldest morning in at least 18 years and more than three degrees colder than any morning last year. Frost covered the ground in Ipswich as nearby Amberley Airport dropped to a minimum of -2.5 degrees. Coolangatta Airport had a light frost spread across the grass for the second morning in a row as the mercury fell to one degree again. This was its coldest pair of mornings in 28 years. Kingaroy fell to -5.6 degrees this morning, its coldest in 12 years. Even in the state's centre and north temperatures fell well below average. Emerald had its coldest morning in at least two decades, falling to 0.5 degrees. Longreach dropped all the way to -0.7 degrees, its coldest in 16 years. Tomorrow morning will be another very cold morning across Queensland with widespread frost again for inland areas. This is turning out to be one of the coldest run of mornings for Queensland on record with many places running four or five degrees below average.
