Brisbane continued its run of cold and below average mornings on Sunday and more are on the way. 

Overnight temperatures throughout the suburbs of Brisbane were mostly three to five degrees below the June average. Amberley was among the coldest with a low of just 1.2 degrees, nearly six below average and the coldest morning in close to a year. The mercury in Brisbane dropped to 6.5 degrees, this was over five degrees below average and the coldest morning in three years. This was the fourth morning in a row where the temperature dropped below average.

A high pressure system brought the ideal conditions for the frigid morning - clear overnight skies and light offshore winds, allowing the warmth from the day to escape. The high will linger in the coming days and minimum temperatures are likely to drop below average until mid-next week when cloud cover begins to increase. For those that don’t enjoy the cold mornings, the good news is that the following few mornings are unlikely to be as cold as Sunday.
