Blustery conditions for SA, VIC, TAS and NSW

Thomas Hough, Tuesday July 17, 2018 - 13:30 EST

It's going to be a windy week for the southeast of the country, with frequent fronts moving across the south.

A series of fronts moving across the south of the continent over the next week will see gusty winds persist until the end of the working week.

The most significant front of the week in terms of wind began impacting South Australia in the early hours of this morning. There have already been some pretty impressive figures come from the system, with Neptune Island and Cape Willoughby recording wind gusts of 133km/h and 109km/h respectively, their highest in 2 years.

Victorians won't escape either with the strongest wind gusts, around 90-100km/h expected up until about early afternoon over exposed coasts and ranges of South West and Central.

Although the strongest gusts of the week are expected today conditions will remain windy until the end of the week, with respite coming for South Australia from early Friday as a high briefly moves in. New South Wales and Victoria will have to wait a little longer until a front clears later in the day.

If you're a snow enthusiast, then the weekend is a great time to head out, with winds looking to remain lighter until late Sunday.
