A Tasman Low is set to form on Thursday afternoon bringing a wet and blustery day along the New South Wales coast on Friday With a beautifully clear and still Thursday morning, many Sydneysiders would have planned to head into the city to see the opening night of Vivid on Friday. The weather has plans of its own though. A Tasman low forming off the South Coast on Thursday afternoon will see cloud build and winds increase into this evening. On Friday, rain and wind will combine to bring a miserable day for sightseeing. Sydney has the potential to see up to 35mm along the coast and 5-10mm further west. Sustained winds along Sydney's coast will peak at around 50km/h in the early afternoon with gusts over 90km/h a chance. The strong winds will make there away up coast during the day, with the South Coast being windiest in the morning, central parts around the middle of the day and the Mid North Coast in the early evening. The rain will accompany the wind spreading from the South Coast up to the Mid North Coast on Friday. The heaviest of the rain will occur on the South Coast where there is the risk of up to 60mm, 15-30mm are a risk elsewhere. The good news for Vivid fans is the rain and wind will begin to ease from the early evening on Friday. It definitely won't be a pleasant evening of viewing but it won't be as gusty and wet as the early afternoon. A high pressure system will begin to build over the coast on Saturday allowing showers and winds to ease. By Sunday skies will have cleared and winds will have become light, making it the pick of the weekend for a night out in the city to watch the Vivid light show.
