Australia's not so merry heat-go-round

Australia's not so merry heat-go-round
Heatwaves are moving around the nation from state to state, with the west and south next in the line of sight. Heat peaked yesterday over northern parts of South Australia, moving into northwestern New South Wales today and southeastern Queensland on Saturday, with a few new records being set. A heatwave is finishing up over central Australia as a trough pushes heat into the northeast, where much of inland Queensland is in the midst of a prolonged heatwave. This heat is going round and round the nation with no clear end in sight. The next area to see the heat will be the nation's northwest with temperatures set to rise into the mid 40's at times. A heat trough over WA will deepen next week with Perth in line for two or three hot days, probably escaping the worst of it. The heat-go-round will then slowly move through South Australia from next Friday with a weeks worth of well above average temperatures in sight for most of state. Even Adelaide will see a few days rising through the mid 30's and possibly beyond. The scorching temperatures are then likely to move into the east again, but as always it is unclear how much this will affect the coast. One thing is pretty clear though: records will be broken and people all around the nation will be hoping the not so merry 'heat-go-round' skips quickly past their town or city.
