Australia's superb snow season

Australia's superb snow season
The 2016 snow season continues to impress, with statistics piling up like…snow. An notable late-season snow base gave this year a number of accolades earlier in October, including the latest season peak in 54 years and the highest depth this late in the season since 1992. Now, a new ribbon can be hung across the shoulders of Australia's Alps. Yesterday's snow depth at Spencers Creek was 122 cm, bringing the run of consecutive days above the one metre mark to 92. This is the equal longest run of days above one metre in 12 years. Australia's impressive late-season snow base is only gradually declining and it is possible that we will still be sitting above one metre next week. If so, this would make it the longest run above one metre in 22 years.
