An end to high pressure in sight
Rosebud Lambert

A low brewing south of Western Australia could provide the catalyst for a change in the weather across Australia.
The low will begin to affect southern Western Australia late tomorrow, bringing gusty and cold showers to the southwest from the evening. While showers won't be too heavy, the low is expected to cause a trough that will move east through next week, taking patchy rain to the interior and bringing an end to a dominant high pressure system.
The development of a trough would provide the opportunity for moisture to stream from a warm sea surface in the north to the interior and south, triggering rain. At this stage the heaviest rain is expected to develop in the interior and south mid-week before moving to the southeast.
A separate trough developing in Queensland may also bring some decent falls to the northeast in the next few days. Moist easterly winds will help to feed the trough causing heavy showers over Queensland's tropical north, with patchy rain spreading to the state's southern interior.
These potential rain events would bring a wet end to what has otherwise been a dry month for many parts of Australia.
