Adelaide hot spell to last another week
South Australia is roasting in the midst of unprecedented long heatwave. On Saturday the temperature reached 40 degrees in Adelaide, 14 above average and it’s hottest march day in four years. It was also Adelaide’s fourth consecutive day over 37 degrees, a trend set to continue on Sunday and Monday. It will be the first time in 68 years the city has reached at least 37 on six consecutive March days. By Monday Adelaide will have also recorded eight days in a row over 35, a streak not recorded in March for 74 years. Elsewhere on Saturday, Mt Barker. Murray Bridge and Cleve all soared 16 above average to at least 41 degrees. The states hottest town was Kyancutta which reached a scorching 43. A weak cool change should affect coastal regions of SA on Tuesday but weatherzone.com.au predicts another spell of extreme heat for Adelaide during the middle and end of next week.
