Adelaide feels a chill - coldest day in 2 years
Tim Shu

A polar front went though SA today, bringing widespread rain and cloud, keeping the thermometer down today at a chilly 11.5 degrees.
The front came though around 5:30am CST today, indicated by a distinct northerly change and a sudden gust in Adelaide today, followed by several hours of showers that tapered off by midday. The CBD had received 4.6 in the hours before noon, but the wide band of thick cloud behind the front coupled with a cool cloudless night didn't give the sun many chances to heat up the city.
At around 4pm, the cloud band had fully passed, letting the city jump a few degrees before peaking at 11.5 degrees, the lowest maximum since July 2008 (11.2 degrees).
South Australia looks like its in for another few millimeters tomorrow as another burst of cool wind makes it way from the Southern Ocean, but a broad high pressure cell will clear the state by late Tuesday.
