ACT on target for coldest February on record.
Rob Sharpe

The nation's capital has been cold and wet and the outlook is more showers and storms. Throughout the ACT the average maximum temperatures for February are between 24 and 25 degrees. In Tuggeranong this is almost 4 degrees below average.
In a typical February Tuggeranong tips 30 degrees ten times, while this year its highest temperature is merely 29.5 degrees. Not once has it reached 30.
This February is also unusually wet for the ACT. Yesterday afternoon the ACT was lashed by two storms during the afternoon and evening. The highest falls were at Horse Park with 27mm. Tuggeranong and the airport only had 3mm.
Despite small falls yesterday in Tuggeranong, it has already reached its February average rainfall with 84mm. The rain is not expected to let up either, with storms expected this afternoon. In fact, showers and storms are possible out till Wednesday.
The nation's capital will finally get a break from the wet conditions on Thursday when the temperatures start to increase again. However, temperatures are not expected to get above the average of 28 degrees until next Sunday. This means that this February is likely to be one of the coldest on record for the ACT.
