After another run of very cold mornings in Victoria, there will be a few days grace for the early birds. Cerberus had its coldest May morning in five years, dropping down to one degree on Tuesday morning. Coldstream had its coldest morning since winter, recording minus two degrees. In Mangalore, the past three days, temperatures have fallen below two degrees overnight. This chill has been felt around the entire state, with the last three mornings falling well below the monthly May average. Even Melbourne city only saw five degrees, it's coldest morning since September. The next few mornings will be almost twice as warm for most places. Melbourne and surrounds are likely to reach double-digit figures in the morning. Cloud streaming into the state will become thicker as a very slow moving trough approaches, trapping in some of the daytime heat. This trough will bring light and patchy showers during Wednesday, mainly over the the southwest and north. Showers will become more widespread by Thursday as the trough links up with a cold front, with the heaviest falls likely in the North East. Showers will to begin to clear off during Friday, before the next front arrives on Saturday. Residents will notice that after the cold front passes, temperatures will once again plummet. It will be back to the wooly jumpers and hats for at least most of next week.
