Coastal Waters Wind Warning
For Northeastern Gulf of Carpentaria waters, north of Weipa.

A slow moving high pressure system [1030 hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a firm
ridge along the east Queensland coast. The high is expected to weaken during the
next few days, with the ridge gradually relaxing as a result.
CANCELLED Strong Wind Warning
for Northeast Gulf Waters, north of Weipa
Winds are no longer expected to exceed 26 knots.
Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
Temperatures will cool down for much of the week for South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
The monsoon trough has made a glancing blow of Queensland's Cape York Peninsula and the Top End.
Rain in parts of western Queensland in the past week has raised hope that the drought may finally be over, but the long, dry years have already devastated pastures and wiped out incomes for many farming families.
