Dousing for southwest WA

Dousing for southwest WA
A strong frontal system is bringing some heavy falls of rain to southwest parts of Western Australia. Some of the top rainfall totals in the area so far (to 9am WST) include 36mm at Newbicup, 31mm at Newlands and 37mm at Ferguson Valley. Models are indicating a further 15-25mm could fall over the next 6-12 hours. On top of these falls the southwest is also seeing thunderstorms, particularly around Perth. The South West and Great Southern are in desperate need of some rain, given that some parts of these districts have observed serious rainfall deficiencies over the last 12 months. A few lingering showers will affect coastal parts during Monday, but next week will see a return to largely fine and dry conditions.
