A cold front coupled with southerly winds dropped the temperatures this morning (Sat 4th) in southeastern SA, VIC, TAS, and southern NSW. 

The Weather Station in Edinburg (SA) hasn’t recorded a December minimum temperature this low since 16 December 2016. Bicheno (TAS) hasn’t been so cold since 4 December 2018. Cape Bruny and Maatsuyker Island had the lowest minimum December temperature for the last 2 years. 

  • Edinburg (SA) 7.6 degrees, 7.2 degrees below average 
  • Bicheno (TAS) 8.0 degrees 
  • Cape Bruny (TAS) 6.6 degrees, 4.1 degrees below average 
  • Maatsuyker Island (TAS) 5.7 degrees, 4.1 degrees below average 

Minimum temperatures were observed below average this morning in SA, VIC, TAS, and southern NSW. Adelaide (SA) recorded 9.9 degrees, 5.2 degrees below average.  

Places that registered the greatest differences between the observed minimum temperature and the climate: 

  • Cummins (SA) recorded 5.3 degrees, 7.7 degrees below average 
  • Roseworthy (SA) recorded 5.0 degrees, 7.7 degrees below average 
  • Lameroo (SA) recorded 5.2 degrees, 7.1 degrees below average 
  • Longerenong (VIC) recorded 5.0 degrees, 6.3 degrees below average 
  • Mount Baw (VIC) recorded 0.1 degree, 5.9 degrees below average 
  • Charlton (VIC) recorded 7.2 degrees, 5.9 degrees below average 
  • Yanco (NSW) recorded 12.1 degrees, 4.3 degrees below average 
  • Deniliquin(NSW) recorded 10.3 degrees, 4.0 degrees below average 
  • St Helens (TAS) recorded 7.8 degrees, 4.0 degrees below average
