Arid April in Perth

Arid April in Perth
Perth has not recorded any rainfall so far this month. The city is coming to the end of what is likely to be their first completely dry April in 35 years and only the fourth rainless April on record. April usually marks the time of year when Perth starts to experience more rainfall as the nation's southwest transitions from the dry summer months to a wetter winter period. However, dominant high pressure systems to the south of Western Australia this month have restricted rain-bearing cold fronts from reaching the city. Perth will continue its dry rain into the start of May, with no rainfall forecast from now until at least the end of next week.
