All south-east Queensland schools have been shut today and businesses are being asked to close by lunchtime as ex-Cyclone Debbie nears, bringing severe thunderstorms, torrential rain and flash flooding.
Government loans announced for cyclone-affected farmers as wet weather prevents assessment of crop damage
Wet weather has continued to plague parts of cyclone-affected north Queensland overnight, hampering farmers' efforts to survey damage to their properties.
Swift water rescues are underway with at least 50 people stranded in outlying areas of Mackay in north Queensland after heavy rain in the region overnight, Police Commissioner Ian Stewart says.
