Central Tablelands, New South Wales/ACT
Thunderstorms have brought hail and lightning to Queensland's south as the state continues to swelter under a heatwave.
A burst of hazy heat enveloped Sydney on Friday, with temperatures just not letting up well into the evening.
Temperatures will remain above 40 degrees Celsius in parts of central and southern Queensland until at least Wednesday next week, the Bureau of Meterology (BOM) warns.
