Alpine forecast

Light snow is falling and visibility is deteriorating in Victorian resorts, mainly at Mt Buller. Snow showers will increase along with wind, leading to blizzard-like conditions during Thursday night/Friday and across all resorts due to a strong cold front. Victorian resorts should do best, gaining 15-30cm, while NSW resorts pick up 10-20cm.

Winds will have eased and conditions cleared enough by Friday afternoon for enthusiasts to enjoy the fresh dry powder on top of a decent base. Light snowfalls are likely to intermittently grace the slopes during the weekend, maintaining a winter-like feel.

Another decent snow-bearing system should move through from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th, bringing 20-40cm all up. Beyond that, intermittent light snowfalls are likely most days. And nights will be cold enough and calm enough for worthwhile snow making.
