Alpine forecast

Snowfalls are set to continue this week and into the weekend, enhancing the existing base for the season.

The main resorts have all seen around half a metre last week, so early week skiing will continue to be pretty good with relatively light winds and good visibility through Wednesday.

Ahead of an approaching cold front, conditions will likely deteriorate from Thursday as wind and snowfalls increase, with good falls expected Thursday evening into Friday morning.

Winds will have eased and conditions cleared enough by Friday afternoon for enthusiasts to enjoy the fresh falls. Light snowfalls are likely to intermittently grace the slopes throughout the weekend.

Another significant system is set to make landfall over the southeastern parts of the country from Monday 4th July, making 5-10cm likely each day into Wednesday 6th July. Beyond that, intermittent light snowfalls remain likely each day.
