Cloud with a low pressure trough is generating areas of rain over northern WA and western QLD, with thundery showers over the NT, extending south to SA. Speckled cloud in the wake of a strong cold front is producing gusty cold showers and thunderstorms over southern WA.
Residents in the South Australian towns of Virginia, Lewiston and Port Wakefield had a brief reprieve from the rain overnight but they have been warned further flooding is possible later this afternoon.
The South Australian towns of Virginia and Port Wakefield are under threat from floodwaters as the Gawler and Wakefield rivers burst their banks, with warnings more rain is on the way.
About 9,000 properties remain without power in Perth and Western Australia's south-west as conditions ease across the state after damaging winds brought down trees and debris.
