Patchy cloud skirting the coast of eastern NSW and southern QLD in the wake of a tropical low is causing a few showers. Skies are mostly clear in western QLD, western NSW, VIC, TAS and SA under a firm high. Cloud scattered across the tropics in a weak trough is causing storms.

Thousands of residents in low-lying areas of the northern Gold Coast, Logan, Beenleigh have been asked to evacuate, after torrential rain from the remnants of Cyclone Debbie inundated their rivers.
