Wild and mild weather

Monday June 30, 2008 - 16:08 EST

Tasmanian Police are urging motorists in the south to take care on the roads, with strong winds expected this evening.

They say water is being sprayed across the causeway at Midway Point due to the winds.

In the far north-west, strong winds have forced the closure of Forestry Tasmania's tourist attraction Dismal Swamp.

It is expected to re-open tomorrow.

Meanwhile, statistics show Hobart has recorded its warmest June for 18 years, despite a spate of chilly nights last week.

The national meteorological company Weatherzone says the average maximum for the month was 14 degrees, two degrees above average.

The average minimum temperature was one degree above average at six degrees.
