What will tomorrow bring? Extreme weather in NSW
Sam Terry

What a change a day can make as temperatures dropped and widespread rain fell in NSW, replacing the dry, dangerous heat of Thursday.
Fire danger was extreme throughout the state yesterday, in some places catastrophic, including on the South Coast district. Ivanhoe, in the state's far west, experienced its highest fire danger in two years, quite a feat for an outback location.
Fire danger eased today as a broad blanket of cloud blocked out the sun and dropped rainfall over the coast and interior alike.
Rain totals have been anywhere from five to fifteen millimetres over the last 24 hours, not particularly large but enough to be the best in about two to six months.
The heaviest and most persistent rain is heading north as a cool southerly change pushes towards Queensland.
The change, which gusted through Sydney last night, bringing gusts of
around 70 km/h, dropped temperatures from 32 degrees at 11:30pm (amazing in itself) to 26 degrees in just an hour.
Today temperatures statewide were generally 15 to 25 degrees less than the previous day! Nowra had it's hottest December day on Thursday, but was a whopping 27 degrees less than that today.
What will tomorrow bring?
