After a fairly dry June when most of Victoria had about half of their monthly average rainfall, parts of the state have had a good start to July. Many centres in the north and west picked up a quarter of their monthly average in one day, half of their total June rainfall.
Widespread 10 to 20 millimetres fell in the Western and Northeast districts since yesterday morning with some locations nearer the ranges gaining more than 30mm.
Dartmouth Reservoir picked up 19mm, their heaviest fall in three months. The reservoir level has been sitting at about 20% of capacity for a long time now, so this rain will only help raise the level.
Another burst of showers will affect the state tomorrow, but falls will generally not be as heavy as the most recent burst. Most falls away from the ranges will be less than five millimetres.
The next best chance of widespread rain is early next week.
