Wet season delays new cyclone shelters

Thursday August 23, 2012 - 14:10 EST

The State Government says a prolonged wet season has caused delays in the construction of three new cyclone shelters in far north Queensland.

The shelters at the Tully State School, Port Douglas State School and at Rocky Point in Weipa were due to be completed by the start of the cyclone season in November.

However, a spokesman for the Department of Housing and Public Works says they will be finished in December.
