Wind and showers will increase over southeastern Australia later this week as a series of intense fronts approaches the region, according to weatherzone.com.au
The fronts will end a fortnight of relatively placid weather over the region caused by slow-moving high pressure systems. Earlier the months of July and August had been the windiest and coldest recorded in at least a decade, and delivered the best snow season in at least four years to the Alps.
Conditions across the southeast will deteriorate by Friday ahead of the first front, as strong northerly winds develop. Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney can all expect highs in the low 20’s in the warm and gusty northerlies.
During the weekend strong winds and showers are likely to persist, with most computer models predicting two or three strong fronts to cross the region.
