Welcome rainfall easing from WA...for now
Sam Terry

While eastern Australia feels winter's bite, much of WA has been rejoicing at the recent rainfall events.
In the 24 hours to 9am this morning parts of the Lower West and Gascoyne and picked up anywhere between 10 to 40mm. Kalgoorlie received 26mm, its wettest day in 18 months and its highest 24 hour total for July in 10 years.
Closer to the coast Bickley also picked up 26mm, putting it over its average monthly total. Most places nearby picked up about 15mm.
The rain comes with the passage of a trough and front system. Another
front is approaching the southwest, causing showers to increase along the coast and adjacent inland. The front will spread showers along the south during Wednesday, but these will not be as heavy as with the previous system. However, a trough is still active further north and could bring up to 20mm more to the Gascoyne.
