Weather worth watching in NSW

Sam Terry, Wednesday November 19, 2008 - 16:41 EDT

The chaotic weather is all set to drive its way across eastern NSW tonight and tomorrow as a low and trough deepen in the west.

A broad low pressure system has been tracking across the southern states over the last day or two, finally intensifying as it moves through NSW. The low is causing fairly widespread, but light to moderate, rain and showers as it draws in tropical moisture across the NT and QLD.

The bulk of the rainfall looks to miss Melbourne, but will bring good totals to eastern NSW, with the heaviest rain occurring over the ranges. Sydney should get some rain tonight, and storms, with even some potential for severity due to damaging wind gusts and flash flooding. Rainfall totals look to be between 10 to 20mm.

Tomorrow morning the rain will ease in Sydney to the odd shower as the trough moves offshore, with the chance of storm as well.
