Another bout of wild weather is set to move over Western Australia this evening. Residents of WA's southwest were left battered on Saturday after a powerful cold front moved in. Some places saw gusts of 100km/h which pulled down trees and powerlines, leaving many without power. Parts of the southwest also recorded 50mm or more of rain over weekend. Another cold front is set to sweep over the southwest again, bringing further wind and rain. A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for the Lower West, South West, South Coastal and Great Southern for the cold front that will arrive late tonight and move through in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Wind gusts may reach 100km/h again, with isolated areas possibly seeing gusts in excess of 125km/h. Heavy rain is also a risk, with widespread falls of 25mm. Areas south of Perth may see totals closer to 50mm. Higher than normal tides may also threaten low-lying coastal areas around high tide on Tuesday morning, with the surf likely to be dangerous. Residents are encouraged to make preparations such as storing loose outdoor items, have an emergency kit handy and ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. Wild conditions will ease quickly once the front passes through on Tuesday, although cooler days and patchy showers remain on the cards for the next few days.
