Unusually wet for the Island State

Sam Terry
It has been an unusaully wet day for parts of Tasmania, according to weatherzone.com.au. Over the last few days a series of fronts have passed through NSW, VIC and TAS, mainly bringing severe weather thanks to damaging winds. However, as a result of such strong winds parts of eastern TAS have received some higher than average rainfalls. Hobart was the main stand-out, receiving 16mm to 9am this morning, and a further 2.5mm thereafter, making it the wettest July day in 8 years. Other notable locations include Melton Mowbray, picking up 16mm as well, its wettest July day in 5 years. Warra, getting 40mm, had its heaviest July rainfall in at least 3 years. After another small burst of showers tomorrow, and some highland snow, winds and showers will ease again, bringing clearer and drier days until about Sunday.
