Tropical Cyclone Errol update
Douglas Fenton

Tropical Cyclone Errol is continuing to move away from the Kimberley coast and is taking heavy rain and strong winds with it.
Errol was upgraded to a Category two cyclone on Saturday morning, with wind gusts near the centre reaching 130km/h.
The cyclone continues to move northwest towards Indonesia and so the warning for coastal and island communities from Kalumburu to Kuri
Bay has been cancelled.
Northwest parts of the Darwin Daly and the northern Kimberley received heavy rain in the 24 hours to 9am.
Darwin picked up a daily total of 55mm, the highest in 6 weeks. Troughton Island received 60mm in the 48 hours to 9am on Saturday taking the monthly total to 334mm. This is sixteen times their average and the wettest April in at least 54 years.
Isolated showers are expected to clear from north Kimberley coast tomorrow as the cyclone continues to move away from the mainland and weaken.
