Thompson Reservoir hits new milestone

Tuesday September 4, 2012 - 08:19 EST

Melbourne's largest water storage, the Thomson Reservoir, has reached 70 per cent capacity for the first time in 15 years.

At the height of the drought in 2009, it was only 16 per cent full.

Water Minister Peter Walsh will inspect the reservoir today.

The dam contributes approximately 60 per cent of Melbourne's total storage capacity.
