Sydney's Warmth Continues

Sydney's Warmth Continues
Sydney is in the middle of an extended spell of warm weather that is nearing record levels, but it will draw to a close this weekend. While cold fronts have been buffeting WA, a large high has protected southeastern Australia. The high has brought abundant sunshine, whilst maintaining an extended run of warmer winds from a northwesterly direction. This weather pattern is bringing the warmest weather in more than two months to southeastern Australia and pushing daytime temperatures five to 10 degrees above average. The run of mid-winter warmth is nearing record status in Sydney, with temperatures at or above 20 degrees now for the 6th day in a row. Sydney only needs to reach 7 days to tie its all time mid-winter stretch of 20 degrees days and is likely to match that on Wednesday with a forecast high of 23 degrees. The all time winter record run of 20 degree days is also in danger if the forecast holds true to Saturday, when it would make 10 days straight. This would equal the all time record for winter and make Sydney residents smile. Unfortunately the warm temperatures will fade for southeastern Australia this weekend, with a cooler change bringing cloud and rain.
