Sydney's dry spell coming to the end as kids go back to school
Sydney has endured a fairly consistent run of below-average overnight temperatures and rainfall so far this month, but conditions are looking set to change as school goes back next week.
This morning, Sydney dropped to 6.4 degrees making it the coldest July morning in two years. Canterbury also felt the chill this morning, dropping to freezing after 7am and making it the coldest July morning in seven years.
Today, temperatures should reach up to 17 degrees and winds will swing from west to south and increase during the day, bringing the chance of a couple of rain drops with it.
A weak trough may bring clouds will end the run of those chilly minimum temperatures from Tuesday.
In terms of rainfall, no significant greater than one millimeter has fallen in Sydney in four weeks. Across Sydney suburbs, nowhere has recorded more than two percent of the average July rainfall, although more is on the way.
Showers may begin in the afternoon on Monday 14th. These should clear and remain mostly dry until early Wednesday morning where a few more light showers are expected.
