Sydney's 24 day dry spell snapped

Sydney's 24 day dry spell snapped
Showers fell across parts of Sydney last night, ending the city's 24 day long dry spell. The Harbour City enjoyed a mild and mostly sunny day on Sunday with the help of westerly winds, reaching around 20 degrees, with little indication that rain was on the way later. As temperatures rose throughout the day a seabreeze developed during the afternoon, enhancing moisture in the atmosphere, as well as converging with the westerly winds. Combining with the help of a low pressure trough, this allowed showers to develop in the evening over central and eastern parts of Sydney. The city collected 5.6mm from the showers, snapping the dry spell at 24 days. Other notable falls included 5mm at Bondi and 4mm at Northmead. However some places such as Bankstown and the Airport missed out entirely, with the dry spell set to lengthen. Dry spells at this time of year are not uncommon. In fact, last winter there was a dry spell of 23 days, whilst the winter before that saw 35 days of no rain. Those places in Sydney that missed out are unlikely to see their spell go on much longer, with the chance of rain and thunderstorms during the weekend.
