Temperatures in Sydney today sky rocketed well above average today as hot northwesterly winds and a clear sky washed over the city.

The warmer than normal temperatures started last night when over night minimum temperatures remained well in the high teens. Sydney's CBD only fell to a minimum temperature of 19.8 degrees, nine degrees above average and the warmest overnight low in six months.

As the sun rose temperatures quickly soared into the thirties across the city. The hottest in Sydney today was Hombush Bay with a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees at twenty past two this afternoon.
