Sweaty South Australia
Those in northern parts of South Australia have endured a scorching Saturday and got very little relief during the night.
For much of the North East Pastoral it was was the hottest November day in at least five years with Marree reaching 46 which is 13 above the average. For some places in the North West Pastoral the record was much more significant. Andamooka's top of 46 is 14 above the average and the hottest November day since records began over 40 years ago. While in Roxby Downs it climbed to 45, also 14 above the average and they haven't had a hotter November day in at least 15 years.
During the evening cloud increased with a few storms popping up along a trough. These storms brought strong gusty winds reaching 107km/h at Marree. These storms did little to help drop the temperatures and the cloud acted like a blanket, trapping some of the day time heat and leading to an uncomfortable evening.
In Oodnadatta it was above 40 degrees at 9pm and it was still 35 just before midnight. In Moomba it only dropped to 33 degrees overnight. This was the warmest November night since records began in 1995 and the warmest night of any month in a decade.
Sunday is unlikely to be as hot but it will still reach the low forties across northern parts of the state before cooling into the thirties early next week.
