Strong winds to shred the southeast again
Brett Dutschke

Parts of Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales have been blown about by the strongest winds in years, knocking down trees and powerlines. Residents should prepare for another blast tomorrow.
Much of the damage was in the Melbourne area this morning. Werribee and Redesdale, about an hour north, recorded gusts in excess of 100km/h, their strongest in more than five years.
Unlike last Thursday when coastal areas of Victoria and Tasmania were hit hard by near-record winds, 180km/h in Bass Strait, last night and today damaging winds spread further north to inland Victoria and NSW.
The windiest spot last night and today was Cape Grim in northwestern Tasmania, where westerlies peaked at 133km/h. Gusts of 80 km/h affected Sydney and 102 km/h winds hit Moss Vale.
Another burst of damaging winds will arrive at about the same time tomorrow due to a low passing just south of Tasmania again.
