Strong winds cut Woodend power

Tuesday July 1, 2008 - 11:00 EST

Homes and businesses at Woodend, in central Victoria, were without power this morning after wild weather.

Powercor's Damian Batey says about 2,000 Woodend customers lost power about 7:30am AEST.

He says supplies are expected to be restored soon.

"It is related to high winds blowing bark tree branches and debris across powerlines, as a result we've got lines on the ground," he said.
