Stormy start to summer for southeast QLD
Saturday's storms produced large hail, intense rainfall and destructive winds to several locations across southeast Queensland as two large storms rolled over in quick succession.
Over a ten-minute period, Ipswich recorded 17mm of rain, Archerfield saw 13mm and Brisbane Airport 8mm.
Destructive winds were also recorded, with Dalby blown away by a gust of 104 km/h during one of the severe storms. Several other places saw wind gusts in excess of 80km/h.
These two storms also created a large amount of lightning, with over 20 000 strikes recorded within a 30km radius of Ipswich.
Over 37 000 homes lost power during Saturday evening during these storms.
This afternoon, storms have sparked up once again, with a severe storm warning in place. The risk of storms continues into the new working week as a broad region of low pressure remains.
