Storms thunder through SA
Rosebud Lambert

A band of storms delivered rain across South Australia last night, dumping more than the monthly average for some locations.
Marla in the Northwest Pastoral district, recorded 22mm to 9am, the heaviest rain this year. This rainfall amount was more than double the monthly average of just 9mm, and enough to make it the wettest September day in six years.
Oodnadatta also felt the deluge, recording 27mm with 6mm falling in ten minutes. Oodnadatta has now received 46mm this month, five times what is normally expected in the entire month of September.
The rain also reached the southeast where Adelaide recorded 4mm, bringing the city within a sliver of reaching the monthly mean of 60mm.
Many locations in north and eastern parts of SA have now exceeded the usual September rainfall by up to 400%.
The storms and rain were triggered by a trough that is now pushing into eastern Australia. The trough has been delivering rain to VIC and NSW today, with some storms also reaching into southwestern QLD.
