Storms fire up over Queensland
Josh Fisher

Storms are once again firing up over interior parts of Queensland this afternoon, raising concerns after severe storms ravaged southern parts of the state on Friday.
Yesterday, storms developed just after midday over the southern interior of Queensland and northeast New South Wales. Though the storms did not bring much in the way of precipitation they did bring some hail and damaging winds with them.
Over the Darling Downs the storms were widespread and severe in some areas. Dalby was one area hit with a gust of 102km/h.
The Granite Belt was also affected by severe storms, but it wasn't the wind wreaking havoc but areas hail. Residents near Stanthorpe saw the large hail, which damaged cars, structures and crops.
These storms were generated by a trough that had moved north earlier on Friday. As the trough stalled over the region storms were able to develop in the afternoon heat.
This same trough has now remained nearly stationary over the area and as the daytime heat reaches its peak today the storms are once again lighting up the skies.
Today's storms still have the potential to bring hail and damaging winds. Longreach has already seen a gust of 67km/h.
