Spring heat returns to Sydney
Warm air should build in Sydney over the weekend as a frontal system crosses to the south of the state, causing the mercury to near 30 degrees for the third time this month.
While Sydney has been fortunate enough to avoid the heat over the last few days, this looks to change as a complex low pressure system passes close to the state next weekend. This should result in warm air being advected down from the interior of the nation.
Maximum temperatures won't be too hot during the first part of the week due to cloud cover limiting warming, however skies should become clearer by the weekend which will help the mercury to rise.
Temperatures are currently forecast to be significantly above average, potentially reaching 31 on Sunday and 32 next Monday. If these temperatures are reached, it will be the first time Sydney has had two consecutive days above 30 degrees since February.
Similar temperatures are expected in the other capital cities, with a Sunday maximum of 30 degrees for Canberra and 29 degrees for Melbourne and Brisbane.
